BIRDIAN FLOW is the foremost remover of mucus and debris. Unlike external percussion that may drive secretions deeper into the lung, the PULSATILE FLOW gently dislodges debris and secretions to be carried out by exiting airflow.
BIRDIAN FLOW gently “persuades” distal airways and collapsed alveoli to open over time. This keeps the recruited lung open and respiring while atelectasis, infection, inflammation and injury are healed.

By automatically adjusting to the resistance of the lung, the Phasitron® precisely and safely delivers the optimal amount and pressure of air required by the alveolar space.
The resulting BIRDIAN FLOW bathes the alveoli in fresh oxygenated air while gently washing out CO2 and secretions.
As the PULSATILE FLOW created by The Phasitron® travels down the airways to the alveolar space, it is rapidly attenuated into a gentle flow.

Open air is entrained into the venturi in a COMPLIANT LUNG.
When lung resistance is low, as in a COMPLIANT LUNG, all of the pulsed air from the Phasitron® enters the mouth of the venturi. Each air pulse draws up to four times as much additional air into the venturi tube. This low-pressure ENTRAINED AIR automatically fills the available space in the lung.
Air is safely and precisely delivered to a COMPROMISED LUNG.
In a COMPROMISED LUNG the Phasitron® continuously and instantaneously adjusts to keep a gentle and safe air pressure. It simplifies the controls and calculations needed on the machine by offering the right amount of airflow regardless of volume, resistance or compliance.
Air puffed towards the venturi escapes in a STIFF LUNG.
Fragile, small, atelectatic or STIFF LUNGS weakened by barotrauma or infection resist air flow through the venturi, causing some of the air puffed towards the venturi to ESCAPE TO OPEN AIR.
